Sunday Stash

I had a fun afternoon visiting Lili and Henry at Spool of Thread Sewing Lounge. They had just received a shipment of Melody Miller's Ruby Star Shining line, so I stopped by to pick up some of the amazing typewriter print. Coincidentally, my friend and typewriter-fan Amy was there at the same time so I got to see  a few of her newest mini quilts! I was just planning to get the red typewriters, but then the aqua typewriters jumped onto the cutting mat and came home with me!

Since Spool of Thread carries all of the 200+ Kona cottons, they're my go-to source for solids. I added to my stash with some brights (melon, tangerine, azure, papaya & canary) and some neutrals (stone, tan, sand, natural, and a linen called Santa Fe Natural). I brought my new fabric home and mixed it with my stash to create this:

Can you guess what this collection of solids was based on?

It's the QuiltCon logo! Was anyone else trying to match the logo colours to their Kona colour card as soon as they saw it? My choices were (left to right): aqua, tangerine, cactus, grass green, caribbean, azure (I think dusty blue is a better match, but I forgot to pick it up in the shopping excitement), papaya and canary. I'm still finalizing my plans with these fabrics and I hope that come April they'll be sent out to the members of the Fab Bee, a brand new virtual quilting bee that I joined this week. I'll keep you posted!

  2. First of all that typewriter print is too cute. Secondly I absolutely love all those Kona's together. You're making me want to go fabric shopping!
My mom and I are thinking of making the trip down to Austin. Just need to work a few things out.

    1. That would be amazing if you and your mom could make it to QuiltCon! I think it's going to be such an exciting event!

Glad my selection of Konas made you want to add to your stash, that's what friends are for, right?

  3. Love those typewriters! Any plans for them yet? I bought some of the clocks, but I haven't decided what to make yet.

    1. Aren't they great? My daughter loves them as well and asked me to buy some, unaware that buying some typewriter fabric the reason we were at the fabric store! The clocks were tempting too. I'm thinking I'll make a small bag with a fussy cut typewriter on it. I'd also like to applique some typewriters on a few t-shirts (for both Sophie and me!).

  4. I must get over there and score some typewriters before they're all gone! I love using those linen blends for bags. The typewriters would make the best iPad sleeve!
